How do I get to you?2024-01-10T14:02:46+00:00

Satnav is usually pretty good at getting you here. Our postcode is EX20 4JD.

However, just in case it leads you astray, or if you’d prefer to navigate yourselves, here are some directions:

Heading West on the A30, take the turning signed Tavistock/Bideford/Bude. At the end of the slip road, turn right and onto the A386 (you’ll pass a Shell garage with a Little Waitrose).

After about 1½ miles, at the roundabout, take the A3079 signed Bude. After about 6 miles, you’ll see a large radio mast on the right. Take the left turn opposite this, signed Bratton Clovelly. We’re about 2 miles down this road on the left.

If you are visiting using public transport – there are regular train services to Exeter St Davids, from here you can either take the bus or train onwards to Okehampton. Due to our rural location, you will need to arrange for a taxi to bring you from Okehampton to Wolf Wood Treehouses (we recommend booking a taxi in advance).

What do I do on arrival?2023-10-30T15:22:10+00:00

We operate a self check-in at Wolf Wood. Before your arrival, you’ll receive an email with instructions and key code. When you get here, drive down the hill and into the woods, following the signs, and park in the bay outside your treehouse. Please drive slowly! There is a turning circle at the bottom of the hill. Check-in is from 4pm.

Black Wolf Treehouse and Lookout Treehouse both have a rainfall shower in the bathroom and a double-ended Jacuzzi bath on the deck.

Stargazer Treehouse has a sunken hot tub and a private sauna on the deck, it also has an indoor double-ended roll-top bath (with handheld shower) next to the bed.

Each treehouse has a well-equipped kitchen with induction hob, standard single oven (but no wicrowave), dishwasher and under-counter fridge with a small freezer compartment. There are plenty of pots, pans and utensils.

Some basic supplies are included such as salt and pepper, olive oil, mixed herbs, tea, coffee, sugar and a range of Pukka herbal teas.

Is there WiFi and mobile reception?2023-10-30T15:22:41+00:00

We endeavour to provide WiFi in the treehouses and the service is usually reliable and fast enough for streaming tv, e.g. Netflix. However, due to the rural woodland location, we can’t guarantee this will always be the case.

Mobile phone reception is limited in the treehouses, so you will need to connect to the WiFi for calls and messages if you wish to stay connected. There is good mobile and 4G reception in the car park and the top of the woods.

What is the location like?2023-10-30T15:24:28+00:00

Wolf Wood is located a short distance to the North West of Dartmoor National Park. Access to this spectacular landscape is just a 20-minute drive away. Alternatively, 40-minute drive to the west takes you to the beautiful coast of North Cornwall, with Bude being the nearest beach.

Further afield, you can get to many of the fantastic landmarks Devon and Cornwall has to offer within an hour, including Padstow, Clovelly, The Eden Project, and many of the world-famous beaches of Cornwall.

The nearest town is Okehampton (about 20-minute drive), where there are a good range of shops including Waitrose, Co-op and Lidl. There is also a train station with regular services to Exeter, joining the main-line to London, Bristol and beyond.

A short walk from your treehouse (about ¾ mile) is the pretty village of Bratton Clovelly where the Clovelly Inn serves hearty pub food (but not fine dining). Please note there is no local shop so we recommend buying supplies en-route.

What are the toilet and washing facilities?2023-10-30T15:23:58+00:00

Each treehouse has a proper flushing loo.

Black Wolf and Lookout each have large rainfall showers in the bathroom and a Jacuzzi whirlpool bath on the deck, large enough for two.

Stargazer does not have a separate shower. Instead, there is a roll-top bath with hand held shower in the main living space (so there is no private washing facility). Out on the deck is a large, square bath (no jets), designed for two people to lay side-by-side.

The Spa treehouse has a large walk-in shower (with incredible views) in the ensuite. Out on the deck is a large round hot-tub, always on and ready to go. Outside the private sauna is a cold shower.

The woodland sauna, available to all guests (for free but book a slot) has a cold shower.
